How counselling can help to process feelings of grief
With 17 Years NHS experience and 5 years experience of working alongside people struggling with unresolved grief and loss, I offer a structured person centered approach looking through a trauma informed lens with every client that works with me. Feeling stuck, numb, heavy or just lost? Lets partner and help you to feel inspired, empowered and courageous. Whether you would prefer 1-1, working in a group,in person or online. We can partner together and create what you feel works for you. Edu-Therapy™ is about resolving the emotional pain from losses and heavy relationships that is the result of having tools that don't work anymore. Learning to reconnect our thoughts to our feelings so we can feel and live life more in the present moment rather than being stuck in the past or the future that will never be. Life coaching is about working on areas in life you feel stuck, lost or heavy and dont have the tools to navigate where you are in life that you feel work best for you. It helps you become action oriented and self accountable for moving forward in life. 5 years ago i decided to focus on supporting people's mental health. I trained to be a teen coach working 1-1 with students and young people in schools and face to face, this inspired me to work on myself and i gained several certifications in empowering people to move through grief and loss, while gaining my ACC (associate certified coach) through the ICF. Mixing these two modalities together has left me with a toolbox to partner and support people stuck in their lives emotionally spiritually or with a grieving heart. I have a real passion for supporting men who are looking to find a lighter path through life having been through my own journey and finding my own lightness through coaching and grief work. Outside of work I am a busy dad/G pops and love slacklining paddle boarding and am wanting to embrace campervan life with a dream of retiring on a converted bus.
Being a heart with ears to Allow clients the space to feel heard and explore how they can become a better version of themselves.
Watching people heal the wounds in their hearts and turn them into scars
After leaving school at 17 with no A-levels and no real direction, I took some time in life finding what i wanted to do as a profession.
17 years ago, I joined the Ambulance Service as an emergency care assistant and found a real love for supporting people with mental health problems but sadly I felt very poorly equipped with the tools to be able to help.
In 2020, I stumbled across a student coaching course which caught my eye with the slogan, “its easier to make strong children than it is to fix broken adults” that caught my attention. On a personal and professional level this resonated with me.
Since gaining my qualification, I have clocked up over 200 coaching hours with students and young adults on a 1-1 and group basis.
After enrolling in a course to help children with loss in 2019, this led me to train as an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist, and have successfully helped many clients move through and beyond over 40 different types of loss that we may encounter in life.
Upon working with so many grieving people, I realised this was a passion close to my heart. I have since qualified as an Edu-Therapy Specialist, which allows me to offer a cognitive behavioural process for healing grieving hearts.
My clients choose to work with me based on what they feel is best for them. I only recommend working with me once we have had a chemistry session and the client feels i am the right support to guide them through this part of their journey
I can accommodate working online and have numerous clients who choose to work remotely with me.

My husband and I came to John at a turning point in our marriage and it was not going down a good road. With John’s help, patience and understanding, he gave us the tools to get to a place where our marriage has been in the best shape it’s ever been. We were able to make progress each week, with the exercises and advice that John gave and we are eternally grateful for getting us back from the road to divorce. John is relatable and truly understands how men and women work, so that we can work together in a way that compliments one another. Thank-you

I started researching grief counsellors for my mother about a year after my father passed away. Following a 64 year marriage and being left deeply feeling the loss of not only him but her independence, mobility (due to a long illness) and her friends (having moved a long way from home to be near family for support) she was in a low state and I was worried for her mental health. Your online information was reassuring and you were clearly experienced and well qualified. Following an initial phone call I felt confident in introducing you to my mother. I think that initially my mother was a little sceptical that the program would benefit her - she had become used to talking about her loss in clichés and had clearly bottled up her real feelings for fear of appearing weak. However, she quickly engaged with you and the program. The program ran its course but my mother was keen to maintain regular sessions because it had become apparent that the weekly release of emotion and refocus onto more positive thoughts was a powerful and healing part of her life. She looked forward to seeing you and felt significantly better after each visit. Being able to talk freely in the comfort of her own home was a huge benefit and helped her to hang on to some sense of control too - including choosing the refreshments offered! I do not think either of us imagined that the initial program would grow so organically into the warm and compassionate working relationship that it did and that it would last until the last few days of her life. The positive impact on her and subsequently on us as a family is hard to explain in words but it was hugely significant and we are so grateful. You look like a friendly person in your profile picture but people should know that you are much more than just that - an incredibly compassionate, open-minded and intuitive counsellor and life coach. You started working with my mother when she was in her late 80s and was an undeniably tough nut to crack (following a life time of quite rigid living) but through gentle persistence, excellent humour and a stimulating exchange of ideas you brought back a light to her latter years that I don’t believe she thought was possible. Thank you so very much.

This isn't your standard therapy. Paula is incredible. Clear, non-judgemental guidance, with an entirely solution-focused mentality. We learnt so much about the science of our brains, and real-life skills that have changed the way we live now and for years to come. Can't recommend her enough.
