Just tell us what support you're looking for and your location, and we'll connect you with experienced professionals so you can compare profiles, read reviews and choose the right fit.
Therapists and counsellors can provide a range of mental health support, such as:
Most therapists offer sessions in person, online via video call or by telephone depending on your preference.
You might consider booking a therapist or counsellor when:
Seeking therapy is a positive step towards better mental health and emotional wellbeing.
When comparing therapists, check their qualifications and professional registrations such as BACP, UKCP or BPS accreditation. Look at their approach and specialisms to ensure they match your needs. Consider whether you prefer in person or online sessions. Read reviews from previous clients and trust your instincts about who feels like the right fit.
Bark lets you explore several therapist and counsellor profiles so you can find someone who matches your needs and budget.
Bark's research shows that therapy costs typically range from £40 to £70 per session. Counsellors with diploma-level training often charge £40 to £50 per hour, whilst clinical psychologists and psychotherapists may charge £60 to £85.
Online therapy sessions are sometimes more affordable. Some therapists offer sliding scale fees for those on lower incomes.
The number of sessions varies depending on your circumstances and issues. Short-term support typically involves 6 to 12 sessions, whilst longer-term therapy can continue for several months. CBT is often delivered as 6 to 20 structured sessions. Your therapist will discuss a treatment plan during initial sessions and review progress regularly.
Yes, online therapy and counselling are widely available and effective for most people. Therapists offer sessions via video call, telephone or secure messaging.
Online therapy is convenient if you have mobility issues, live in rural areas or prefer the privacy of remote sessions. You can specify your preference for online or in person therapy when using Bark.
I am a hypnotherapist specialising in creating fully personalised treatment plans for clients facing anxiety, depression, phobias, and low self-esteem. I believe there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution. My methods are meticulously tailored to your unique personality, experiences, and goals, empowering you to overcome your challenges and achieve lasting emotional well-being. I utilise solution-focused techniques, including PRI and NLP, to help you break free from limitations and unlock your inner strength for a calmer, more confident life.
I love being a part of people's change process. Knowing how hard it is to change our thoughts and behaviours, being able to help someone achieve this is very gratifying. I also love learning all the different ways our brains work and trying to get it to work for us and not against us
I started my own business as Saamador recently and my life has changed. The process of being mentally stimulated is the result of getting inspired. The most rewarding part of being a counsellor is knowing that you had a part in affecting the life of another human being. Giving hope when people feel hopeless. Inspiring others to be all that they are capable of being, so that they can go out into the world and pay it forward by helping others
My services are entirely bespoke to the clients' needs. I assess and perform the deep healing techniques.
Through a remote connection, I can access your energy and channel the appropriate techniques to help you heal on a physical, mental, and emotional level.
At the end of each session, I will provide you with a detailed report that summarizes the areas addressed, giving you clarity on the identified energy blockages and personalized recommendations for improving your health and quality of life.
Saama can be done remotely and is as efficient as the therapy in person.

I nearly didn’t contact Medi8 because I wasn’t sure what to expect from relationship support, but it turned out to be exactly what we needed. Stuart doesn’t just sit there nodding, he actually says what he thinks. At one point he compared our arguments to two people trying to reverse park into the same space from opposite directions, which oddly made perfect sense. We didn’t walk out magically fixed, but we did walk out actually understanding each other, which is a big change. Even my partner (who didn’t want to come in the first place) said it was worth it, which probably says everything.

How much do Therapists cost?
This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.
This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.
Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.
How do I find the right Therapist?
You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.
It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.
How many sessions of Therapy will I need?
Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.
You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.
It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.
What should I look for in a Therapist?
Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.
You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.
What are the benefits of Therapy?
Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.
Can I get a Therapist online?
Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
